Teachers

Being a Teacher member with SCTNZ

Teaching swimming is recognised as one of the most rewarding roles you can undertake.

Guiding people through the early stages of learning to swim and being water safer is a role which provides true satisfaction. You are helping people learn and develop a true life-time activity.

To become a qualified swim teacher in New Zealand we recommend you initially engage with your local swim school to learn more of their requirements and expectations. Swim Schools across NZ will have different requirements for their staff. You can also explore the accreditation options offered by Te Mahi Ako and AUSTSWIM NZ, introduced below.

If you hold swim teaching qualifications from another country and wish to find out how this may assist you into a New Zealand swim teacher licence please contact SCTNZ to discuss your situation. SCTNZ is not a swim teacher qualification provider, how we can provide you guidance as to how you can start the RPL process for a NZ recognised swim teacher licence (and help you find a swim school for you to connect with)
